Hyundai Verna to Honda City: Top Sedans and MPVs Launching in India in 2026

The Indian market will witness the launch of updated and new sedans and MPVs next year, from the Hyundai Verna to the Toyota Rumion. Potential buyers who are wondering about the new launches for 2026 can find the full list here. 

Sedan market sales have been lowered from 19% FY 19 to 9% FY 25 due to the growing popularity of SUVs. However, a few key players are standing strong and plan for new launches to revive this segment and disrupt the market.

MPVs are another segment in India that is quite strong and gaining popularity, as they can be a family car for big households. Many brands have explored this segment and will launch new models in 2026 that you have to look out for, such as Toyota Rumion. 

Hyundai Verna Facelift

Hyundai launched the current generation of Verna in 2023 with modern features and technologies. Now, Hyundai is planning to launch its facelift version to the Indian market in early or mid-2026 to offer a new design Verna with the current engine. Here’s what you can expect from the new Verna in 2026:

  • The new Verna will have some changes to design, such as a redesigned front fascia, alloy wheels, a front bumper with new elements, updated headlights, and a redesigned LED Light bar. 
  • The interior of the model will have the 12.3-inch dual screen setup of the instrument cluster and infotainment screen.
  • The interior cabin will have a 3-spoke steering wheel similar to the Venue model and ventilated front seats. 
  •  The model will have the same powertrain ot 1.5L naturally aspirated and 1.5L turbo-petrol engine, where the NA engine produces 113 bhp and 148 Nm of torque, while the turbo-petrol engine produces 158 bhp and 253 Nm of torque

Honda City Facelift

Another Sedan model that you should keep an eye on is the Honda City Facelift, which could be launched in the Indian market in the second half of 2026. The company will come out with the third update to the current Honda City to elevate the experience of users. Here’s what you can expect from the Honda City Facelift:

  • You can expect the facelift version to have a new front fascia and updated rear end with new boner and taillight. 
  • The model can have a new grille, LED lighting, bumpers, and styling inspiration from the global Civic model. 
  • The interior of the model can come with minor tweaks, such as new upholstery, a 360-degree camera, and others. 
  • The facelift version will continue to have the same powertrain, such as 1.5L petrol and 1.5L e: HEV hybrid options.

Skoda Slavia Facelift 

Skoda is going to launch its popular, popular subcompact Sedan facelift version in the Indian market. Skoda Slavia is one of the popular models of the brand in the Indian market. The facelifted version will be launched in early 2026 with some changes to the design, such as:

  • The model can have the new LED lighting, revised front and rear profiles, new grille design, LED DRLs, and refreshed bumpers. 
  • The interior cabin will have new features with similar designs, such as a 360-degree camera, dual-zone climate control, parking brake assist, ADAS, and others. 
  • The facelift version will have a similar powertrain as the current model, that is. 1.0L and 1.5 L turbo-petrol engine, producing 115 PS and 150 PS.

The Indian market can have the new facelifted version of the Toyota Rumion MPV in 2026. The reports suggest that the makers will update the exterior, interior, and new features with the new version, such as:

  • The new Rumion upgrade is expected to have new taillights, featuring cosmetic changes just like the Ertiga.
  • The cabin has a few updates, like bigger screens, new features like ADAS, smart connectivity, and others. 
  • The model will have the current model powertrain, such as a 1.5L K15B petrol engine with a 4-speed automatic and a 5-speed manual transmission.

Maruti Ertiga Facelift

Maruti can launch the famous Ertiga facelift version in the Indian market by the end of 2026 with some interesting updates. The company has not officially confirmed the facelift version launch, but the speculation is high. Here’s what you can expect from the Ertiga Facelift:

  • The model will have a new front fascia, a new grille, and updated lighting from headlight to taillight. 
  • The model can bring a new infotainment system, redesigned upholstery, and new tech features to elevate your experience.
  • The 7-seater Ertiga will continue to have the same powertrain, 1.5L Petrol and CNG engine. However, some reports claim it can have a 1.2L turbo-petrol engine to offer better performance.
