Honda Reveals India-Bound Hybrid Platforms: New City, CR-V to Lead the Charge

Honda unveiled the new hybrid platforms for small, mid-size, and premium models at the Automotive Technology Workshop in Tokyo. The company will introduce the new Honda New City and CR-V hybrid. Let’s see what the company has in store for the Indian market under the hybrid section. 

Honda is setting the stage for the next hybrid platforms with enhanced efficiency, driving dynamics, and skilled engineering. Hybrid technologies will elevate the experience of the customers as they combine two or more types of power sources. 

Alongside the small and mid-size hybrid vehicle for the Indian market, the company also presented the large-sized hybrid SUV for the American upmarket. The company targets a 30% improvement in fuel efficiency and aims to reduce the costs and speed up development.

Honda reveals its hybrid technologies in upcoming vehicles for the Indian market, where the small hybrid setup features the new Honda City Hybrid, and the mid-size hybrid platform features the Honda CR-V Hybrid. 

Honda’s New City Hybrid and the CR-V Hybrid are expected to be launched in India in 2027. According to the reports, the company plans to launch 10 new models in the mid-size hybrid platform by 2030 in the Indian market.

Honda New City Hybrid 

The next-generation Honda City model with a new hybrid powertrain will elevate the experience of customers. The brand has not revealed much about the Honda City Hybrid. This will be the new addition to the CITY e:HEV, which was recently launched in the Indian market in July 2025.

• There is not much information on its exterior and interior; however, it can have the same design as the all-new Honda City e: HEV, with some tweaks, which was launched recently in India.

Honda’s new City and CR-V Hybrid Price

The current Honda City e: HEC is priced around ₹19.48 lakh, so you can expect the new City built on a hybrid platform to be ₹18 to ₹20 lakh, depending on the new features, powertrain, and other additions. 

The Honda CR-V hybrid will be a premium SUV offering 900 km range with advanced safety features and a dual motor hybrid system, so the price will be higher. According to various car experts, the new CR-V Hybrid model can be launched in India with a starting price of ₹35 lakh to ₹39 lakh.
