The company will contact the authorized vehicle owners through Toyota Dealerships for the ECU update and inspection of the models nationwide. This voluntary recall campaign shows the company’s commitment to offering the best and mitigating any risks.

What are the models and units involved in the Toyota recall campaign?

As per the Toyota announcement on 30 October 2025, the following models and units were recalled:

  • Toyota Camry: Recalled 2257 units manufactured between July 19, 2024, to September 13, 2025. It is powered by Toyota’s 5th-generation Hybrid system with fuel efficiency of 25 kmpl and power of 250 hp. It is available in India for ₹48 lakh.
  • Toyota Vellfire: Recalled 1862 units manufactured between July 19, 2023, and May 12, 2025. The popular luxury MPV Toyota Vellfire costs around ₹1.18 crores and has a 2.5-litre 4-cylinder hybrid petrol engine, producing 193 hp and 240 Nm.
  • Toyota Land Cruiser: Recalled 744 units manufactured between May 31, 2023, and July 28, 2025. The Land Cruiser is an SUV famous among elites, businessmen, celebrities, etc. It has a 3.3 litre V6 diesel engine of 309 hp and 700 NM torque.

What was the issue in the models that Toyota recalled the models?

Toyota recalls the models due to the potential malfunction in the Parking Assist ECU software, a component of the Panoramic View Monitor. The Panoramic View Monitor offers a 360-degree view to assist the drivers with parking and traveling.

The report says the ECU is failing to display the rear-view image correctly, or it freezes, especially in low-light or less visible conditions. According to the company, it is a software-based issue, so it may not include any mechanical improvement.

The company has stated that the issue does not pose a safety risk, but it could have affected the 360-degree camera system’s functioning, which is why the recall is necessary to ensure the important feature is working perfectly.

What will Toyota do to solve the issue?

According to Toyota, the company will install the updated software or reprogram the software to maintain its functioning and performance through the Toyota Diagnostic interface. The company will address the concerns related to the issue and resolve it quickly.

Along with the software update, the company will also do a complete inspection to assess the vehicle’s health, such as battery performance, tire conditions, fluid levels, etc. The Toyota dealerships will reach out to the individual customers about the recall campaign.

If you have any questions or doubts regarding the ECU issue or software update, or recall campaign, you can contact the Toyota India Customer Support at 1800 309 0001 and get your answers.

When can you expect the Toyota recall campaign to end?

The recall campaign began on 30 October 2025. The dealerships across the nation will contact the owners of the 4863 vehicles.  The software update or reprogramming may take 30 to 60 minutes for each vehicle; hence, if you receive the recall call, be prepared to invest an hour at the center.

The recall campaign can take a month or two to reach out to all owners and complete the upgrade. The individual owners whose update will be completed will get confirmation from the respective dealership. The process of the software update to the recalled vehicles is free of cost across the country.

So, if you have any vehicle from the mentioned models, you should inquire about it and see if you need to bring the vehicle to the respective dealership.

Toyota has shown its commitment and immediate response to quality management and dealing with issues. This increases the people’s trust in the brand and builds a strong relationship with their customers.
